The clinic, situated in Ladysmith, KwaZulu Natal, has conducted microbicide studies since 2007 and is headed by Dr Phillip Kotze.
Working closely with the International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM), the Qhakaza Mbokodo clinic is currently conducting The Ring Study – a study to ascertain whether a vaginal ring containing the antiretroviral Dapivirine, is both safe for women to use and is effective in protecting women against HIV infection.
